Ashamed/Shame

Ashamed/ Shame
What is shame? What does it mean to be ashamed? There is good shame and there is evil shame. Tonight, we will look more closely at these and see where we stand individually and collectively in these Biblical matters.

Webster’s states… shame- 1. The painful feeling of having done or experienced something dishonorable, improper, foolish, etc. 2. Capacity to experience this feeling; to be without shame. 3. Disgrace 4. A cause for regret, disappointment 5. To cause to feel shame 6.to activate or motivate through shame. 7. To cause to suffer disgrace. 8

Idiom- for shame, (used to induce feelings of guilt in someone.)
We see shame birthed into the earth realm with some other things as well in the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 2.25- “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

Genesis 3.10- “And he (Adam) said, I heard Thy Voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
Don’t miss some KEY things in 3.10! Not only was SHAME birthed into the earth realm at that time but it was birthed as a twin to FEAR! Picture it… Fear was birthed because of shame and shame was birthed because of fear! And immediately we see this birth “christened” with the ignorance of being able to HIDE ALL THE ABOVE from God The FATHER!

Ezra 9. 5-end of chapter continues the complete thought… but for this usage will look at 5&6.
“And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.”

Job 11.3 “Should thy lies make men hold their peace? And when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?”

Job 19.3 “These 10 times have you reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.”

Psalms 4.2- “Oh ye sons of men, how long will ye turn My Glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek ager leasing? Se’lah.

Mrs. Billy Graham said recently, “God is going to have to chasten America with a heavy hand swiftly or else He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”

Psalms 25- whole chapter

Psalms 31.17 “Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon Thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.”

Other Psalms for later reading: 35.4,26; 37.19; 40.15; 71.24

Proverbs 3.35; 9.7; 10.5; 12.4; 13.18; 29.15

NEW TESTAMENT

Mark 8.34-38 “And when He called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, ‘Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for My sake and the Gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He cometh in the Glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Luke 9.27 “But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, til they see the kingdom of God.”

Acts 5.41&42 “And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His Name. And daily in the temple, and in eveyr house, the ceased NOT to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”

Romans 1.16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also the Greek.”

Romans 5.1-5 ”Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the Glory of God, And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; experience, hope; and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”      (Powerful chapter… read!!!!)

Romans 6 (What master will you serve? Sin or righteousness? Standing ashamed in judgment or facing the shame on earth with heavenly reward?)

Romans 9.33 “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a Stumblingstone and Rock of offense: and whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.”

I Corinthians 4.14; 6.5; 14.35; 15.34

2 Corinthians 9.4; 10.8

Philippians 1.19-20 ‘For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, According to my earnest expectation and my Hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that will all boldness, as always. So now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.”

Philippians 3.18-19 ‘(For may walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame. Who mind earthly things.)”

2 Thessalonians 3.10-15 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, Brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, not that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as brother.”

((REMEMBER: 2 Timothy 3.16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction , for instruction in righteousness: That the man of Gof may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”))

2 Timothy 1.6-12 “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling. Not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which  was give us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

Hebrews 2.11; 6.6; 11.16; 12.2

I Peter 3.16;  4.16 “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

I John 2.27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”

REDEMPTION FROM THE GARDEN EXPERIENCE!

Revelation 3.18 “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment. That thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that you mayest see.”

Revelation 16.15 “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

Ending note:

1 Corinthians 9.14-19
“Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the Gospel should live of the Gospel. But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, that that any man should make my glorying void. For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the Gospel is committed unto me. What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the Gospel, I may make the Gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the Gospel. “

Six Days Journey with Christ Jesus from Pre-Passover to Resurrection in Scriptures

“Six days before the Passover through The Resurrected Lord’s Three Commissions”

For those that may be interested, we try to prepare this day by day walk through the last recorded 6 days of Christ’s ministry on earth, as well as an account of time leading up to the resurrection. We hope you would print this out and walk through the day by day account with Jesus and His teachings during those final hours with us as Emmanuel (God with us). May we recommend you make this a family daily reading adventure?

(Tuesday sunset to Wednesday sunset in the Biblical Account)

“The Preparation Day” -- The day of the Crucifixion.

(Prophesied in detail in Psalm 22 almost 2,000 yrs. in advance by David)

First Day of Unleavened Bread (according to Mark 14 : 12 & Luke 22 : 7- I believe they kept Unleavened Bread for 8 days rather than only 7 as commanded in Leviticus 23, to show NEW BEGINNINGS in CHRIST, I do NOT believe there is a discrepancy in the Word of God on how we should conduct HIS HOLY DAY)

Matt. 26 : 14 -27, 66; Mark 14 : 10 – 15, 47; Luke 22 : 1 – 23, 56; John 13 : 1 – 19, 42

*3rd of 3 “Lord's Supper's ( a/k/a The Last Supper ) just before they came to lead Him off to be killed. It is during this Crucifixion day that HIS death would bring about SALVATION for WHOMSOEVER would believe in HIM and HIS SACRIFICE!
It was around Midnight in Gentile time or about the 6th Hour of Hebrew time, that they began the trial of Jesus. This all lasted until the 9am Gentile time or 3rd Hour of Hebrew time when they crucified Him. (Mark 15.25). Darkness fell over the land from Noon Gentile time or 6th Hour Hebrew time and lasted the length of 3 hours. So at the 9th Hebrew Hour or 3pm Gentile time, the darkness lifted; at which time He gave up the Ghost. His flesh body was placed in the tomb between 5-6pm Gentile time or 11th-12th Hebrew hour.

“The First Day of the Feast”-- “The High Day” (Yom tov), The PASSOVER, The 15th of Nisan
Sundown March 24th, 2016  = Thursday evening until Friday, 25th @ sundown
(Wednesday sunset to Thursday sunset in the Biblical Account)

The first night and day Christ’s Spirit was in Paradise taking captivity captive within the heart of the earth where they were held in Abraham’s bosom. He preached to the spirits in prison according to 1 Peter 3. 19. Let’s also not forget way back in Isaiah 61 from which Christ quoted the first time He spoke out in the Temple of which He was in for 3 days according to Luke 2.46. Luke 4. 15-30 is an account of Jesus speaking this Word of Wisdom to them.

“The Second Day of the Feast”- The 16th of Nisan= Sundown March 25th, Friday until March 26th, Saturday at sundown.
(Thursday sunset to Friday sunset in the Biblical Account)
The second night and day Christ’s flesh was in the tomb.
“The Third Day of the Feast”- The 17th of Nisan= Sundown March 26th, Saturday until Sundown March 27th, Sunday. (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset in the Biblical Account. This would have been a WEEKLY SABBATH by which the Hebrew people were NOT allowed to do ANY WORK on as it was one of the ten Commandments given to them. Thus helping explain why none came on Saturday to the tomb.)
The third night and day Christ’s flesh was in the tomb.  Jesus rose at sunset on Saturday.
“The Fourth Day of the Feast”- The 18th of Nisan= Sundown March 27th, Sunday until Sundown March 28th  Monday.
(Saturday sunset to Sunday sunset in the Biblical Account)
Mary went to the tomb at sunrise this day to find the stone rolled away and the tomb empty!

FIRSTFRUITS- I Corinthians 15:20-23; John 5: 28-29
He ROSE FROM THE DEAD! “After three days” Matthew 27.63; Mark 8.31
The morning the women came to find the stone rolled away (Luke 24: 1-8)

Sequence of Events following The Lord's Resurrection

Matt. 27: 61; Mark 15:47; Luke 23 55,56;  John 20:1 – 29 [30,31]
Matt. 28: 1 – 20; Mark 16: 1 – 20; Luke 24 : 1- 53*; John 21 : 1 – 23 [24,25]

The Three Great Commissions Jesus Gave AFTER Defeating Death on the Cross and had RESURECTED!!!

1st commission-- Luke 24 : 47 – given in Jerusalem on the evening of the day of the resurrection. Were to proclaim “repentance & remission of sins”!
2nd commission-- Mark 16 : 15 – 18 - given for the personal ministry of the Apostles, to be fulfilled BEFORE the destruction of the temple & of Jerusalem. The Acts of the Apostles is the inspired history of the fulfilment of this commission, so far as it is necessary for our instruction. It was given for the personal ministry of the Apostles, THEN AND NOW!

3rd commission-- Matt. 28 : 19,20 – proclamation of:
(a) The King (parables Luke 19 : 12; 26 : 64)
(1.) The summons to Gentiles to submit to Jesus Christ, as King of Israel.  Ps. 2 : 10 – 12)
(b.) “The Gospel of the Kingdom” -- for a witness to all nations, immediately before the end of this age (Matt. 24 : 14; Rev. 14 : 6)
Final deliverance of Israel (Ps. 2 : 9, vrs 6 then fulfilled!)

A LITTLE EXTRA F.Y.I.
In 29 AD, the actual dates would have been Christ’s death (Crucifixion happened on day before Passover known as Preparation Day) on April 3, Wednesday; Christ was laid in tomb before sundown of Wednesday, April 3, which at sundown began THE PASSOVER, The HIGH HOLY DAY of the year; Christ’s resurrection verified on April 7, Sunday morning at dawn; Ascension Day, May 13, (which means though Christ has resurrected HE remained with the disciples for 40 days before returning to the Father); which leaves us with His fulfilled promise of the Comforter coming in only 10 after Christ returned to the Father, but it was 50 days (7 weeks plus 1 day) until Pentecost, May 23.
